![]() ![]() The response from “Support” was that I send them screen shots about the steps taken. I then encountered another problem, namely a DVD that I was trying to back up contained 3 episodes, but Win X DVD Ripper only recognised one episode and only copied 1/3 of the DVD. It is really frustrating when “Support” kept requesting that I try something that they have previously suggested and I have already commented on. In response, “Support” once again requested that I check to see that the DVD can play normally. In this particular case, after waiting over 3 hours and only having 52% completed I gave up in frustration and cancelled the program. I did try once again and supplied “Support” with the full details of my findings. Obviously, “Support” did not read my findings as they then suggested that I try to Clone a DVD to an ISO Image. Once again I advised “Support” of my findings. Off my own bat, I tried cloning a DVD to an ISO Image, but had no success. I tried their suggestions, including using “Safe Mode” and checking that the DVD played properly, to no avail. ![]() I received a quick response with several suggestions I should try. I tried ripping several DVD in MP4 format (as recommended) but in most cases I ended up with only a small fraction of the DVD, so I requested help from “Support”, giving them the details of my findings. After all, according to all the promotional information the product could copy anything, and then of course there was the 30 day money back guarantee. I should have quit while I was ahead, but I downloaded Win X DVD Platinum. However, it only took a short time to realise that the “FREE” version was a waste of time and energy, as it would only allow me to copy a maximum of 5 minute of any DVD and therefore, there was no way that I could verify if the product would actually work. Save Your Sanity - Don’t Purchase Win X Dvd Ripper PlatiumĪfter researching the best programs to back up my DVDs, I was persuaded to downloaded a “FREE” copy of Win X DVD Ripper. I'm now using Handbrake, and it's much faster. Edit - the company did provide a full refund. I am currently awaiting my refund - and if I don't get it will be filing for a chargeback with my credit card company. "Give us your order number" followed by "we processed the refund days ago and will deactivate your licenses". Support is confused - probably language-based - you often get multiple confused responses within minutes of each other. They had me try various things, even gave me an additional software package to try (didn't do anything different), and finally agreed after my repeated requests to refund my money in full - but refused to reactivate my 2016 version (I still have the install file). I pushed the company to backup their claims, in a process that spanned almost a month in emails back and forth - their responses come around 11PM EST, so I would reply next morning and then wait a full day for an answer. And the bundled software is mostly useless, WinXDVD Platinum Ripper is the only software I needed. In short, there was no change in my usage of the software between the 2016 version I had and the 2019 version - except that I got the 2016 version for free during a giveaway and paid for the 2019 version. I manually, via trial and error, find the right track and it works fine. The 2016 version didn't do that, it picks the wrong track, and the 2019 version did the same. The second product claim that I was interested in was that they could handle copy protected DVDs, including Disney, automatically finding the proper track to copy. Takes about 1/2 the time of the length of the movie to copy. First, they claimed "Rip a feature-length DVD movie to MP4 (H.264) in 5 minutes at 300-500 FPS." My experience is that the 2019 version does the same as the 2016 version I had, and it doesn't do either - 5 minutes or 300-500 FPS. In December 2019, I decided to finally purchase a version that would be upgraded and supported for life, because they had two product claims I was interested in. Worked well, although slow, and did not find the correct track to copy on many DVDs, I had to do that manually myself through trial and error. Last version I installed was in 2016, when there was a free giveaway of the full version (but no upgrades). ![]() Background - I have used this product for years. ![]()
